Hey there Fableist family -

It is that time. All the flavors. All the feels. All the smells. All the colors, textures and pumpkin-spiced things, too. Best time of year. We are logging some serious hours right now bringing in our annual bounty of wine grapes from California’s Central Coast.
It also marks that time of year where we get to present our most prized little portfolio of wines. Hopefully we are all looking forward to quality time with friends and family. As always, this season is prime time to crack open those special bottles. Curt and the winemaking team really cherry-picked the best barrels for you this season. We’ve got five absolute gems that will be great for your next special occasion.
The flagship wine for the reserve program is our Cabernet, as always. It’s essentially your grandmother’s special dark berry cobbler in a bottle, with tannins that stretch all the way from El Paso de Robles to El Paso de Texas. Select barrels from Last Frontier and Hinterland with a dash of the Old Potrero.
We highlight some of our favorite growing areas and vineyards in the three other reds. We chose select barrels of Sangiovese from the White Hawk Vineyard just south of Los Alamos — it’s the raciest wine of the set, and it will cut through all the special sauce.
We have a Spanish variety blend from The El Pomar District in east Templeton surrounding our winery. The blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano is a dead ringer for an old Rioja.
Last of the reds is a select barrel blend of our favorite dry farmed vineyard, the Old Potrero.  Located about an hour south of the winery on a silty plateau overlooking Lake Lopez, the vineyard has a signature bouquet every season with racy acidity and a lingering tannin.  An hour or two of decanting for all of these red wines definitely won’t hurt you.
Lastly, we are including an extremely special bottling of a brut Rosé made in methode champenoise style. A special three-vintage blend of Chardonnay barrels from our sparkling program with a touch of Pinot Noir. The wine spent two years in tirage before disgorging it and finishing it with a modest 2 g/L dosage. An absolute stunner.
Thank you for sticking with us. We look forward to popping some bottles together in the future sooner than later with all of you.
Best wishes to you and yours as we wrap up 2021!
Andrew and the Fableist Fam.
